The Holy Eucharist or Communion is the Christian ceremony commemorating the Last Supper Jesus Christ had with His disciples while He was still on earth. Jesus Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper in the presence of his disciples, the night before He was crucified. The Holy Eucharist or Communion entails consecration of representative bread and wine which are then consumed in memory of Jesus Christ. The Holy Eucharist is a sacrament and a sacrifice. In the Holy Eucharist, under the appearances of bread and wine as a physical representation, the Power of the Body and Blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is contained, offered, and received.

The Holy Power of the Lord Jesus Christ is really, truly, and substantially present in the Holy Eucharist and this has been demonstrated by so many miracles of the Holy Eucharist.

According to the Holy Bible, the only true living Word of God, Jesus Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist in this way: He took bread, blessed and broke it, and giving it to His apostles, said: "Take and eat; this is My body;" then He took a cup of wine, blessed it, and giving it to them, said: "All of you drink of this; for this is My blood of the new covenant which is being shed for many unto the forgiveness of sins;" finally, He gave His apostles the commission: "Do this in remembrance of Me." [Luke 22:19-20 King James Version (KJV)].

The Holy Communion, known also as the Lord’s Supper, represents the greatest expression of God’s love for us, His people .The bread represents Jesus’ body that was scourged and broken before and during His crucifixion, and the cup represents His blood that was shed on Calvary. When Jesus was on earth, His body was vibrant, full of life health and there was no sickness in Him. However, before He died, He was terribly scourged by the Roman soldiers, and His body was torn as He hung on the cross.

Something wonderful happened at the cross, Jesus took all our sicknesses and diseases and put them on Himself, who was initially perfect and healthy, but it all changed on the cross so that we can walk in divine health. That is why the Bible says “by His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24).

Stay tuned for Part 2 of “The Power of the Holy Eucharist” which will be focused on “Miracles of the Holy Eucharist.”
