UK Votes to Leave the European Union

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership involving 28 European countries (click here to review full list of EU country membership).
The EU was formed after World War Two to advance economic cooperation and unity across its member countries. The EU which uses Euro as its currency has since advanced to become a unified or “single” economic market that allows and supports free movement of citizens of member nations across all the countries.
UK’s Referendum – Citizens and Legal residents of the UK of voting age voted on Thursday 23 June, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. As reported, “the vote to exit the EU won by 52% to 48% and the referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting. It was the highest turnout in a UK-wide vote since the 1992 general election….Scotland and Northern Ireland both backed staying in the EU. Scotland backed to remain by 62% to 38%, while 55.8% in Northern Ireland voted Remain and 44.2% to leave….”
