Nigerian media frequently report deliberate attacks of Christian communities and killings of Christians. Christians in the southern parts of Northern Nigeria, as well as the South, East, West, and Middle-belt regions of Nigeria are being strategically killed by well-armed Fulani Herdsmen. it is unclear who is arming the Fulani Herdsmen and whether the government of Nigeria is aware of the source of their arms. Many Nigerians, especially Christians who are on the receiving end of the attacks have called on the government of Nigeria to disarm the Fulani Herdsmen. However, there are no signs that the government security agencies are interested in doing just that, even though Nigerian Fulani herdsmen are considered among the five deadliest terrorists groups in the world (www.trackingterrorism.org). The Nigerian government or its representative security agencies usually reports that "arrests have been made" without any evidence of such arrests or prosecution of those purported to have been arrested.

In addition, sporadic fatal attacks have also been reported. Recently, a young Igbo girl in Akokwa, Imo State, Nigeria, was killed by an adult Hausa male because she rejected his sexual overtures. It is unclear if he was a Fulani herdsman. As alleged, the man pursued the young girl who ran into an old woman's home for refuge. The violent male came into the old woman's home and murdered both the young girl and the old woman who tried to protect the girl. Subsequently, he too was murdered by young vigilantes in a revenge attack.
