A Nigerian Man, 30-year old Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, who was allegedly arrested for naming his dog "Buhari", has finally regained his freedom a second time. He was initially arrested, then released, and rearrested before he was released a second time.

Mr. Chinakwe who resides in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, asserts his fundamental rights to name his dog whatever he pleases. He stated his frustration about the killing of his 3 dogs (including one named “Buhari”) by the Northern hoodlums who instigated his arrest.
Interestingly, the Northern hoodlums were neither charged nor arrested for killing Mr. Chinakwe’s dogs, violating his fundamental human rights, aggressing him, or trespassing on his property.
In related news, the office of Rt. General Muhammadu Buhari (former military dictator and now President of Nigeria) claimed that they had nothing to do with this bizarre situation.
It was widely reported in Nigerian media that the President saw the event as a “‘laughable incident,” according to his spokesperson Garba Shehu. Basically, a man’s rights were violated and he was unlawfully arrested and jailed and the President of the country considers it a ‘laughable incident.’
