A kidnapper suspect arrested in Enugu State has accused a police officer and an ex-government official in the state of providing support and logistic assistance.
Daily Post Nigeria reports:
“A notorious kidnap kingpin, Odinaka Uja, who was arrested in Enugu State, has revealed that a police officer and an ex-government official in the state were the brain behind his successful kidnap business, as they sponsored him…”
The suspected confessed that, ““The roles of my sponsors involved protection and support with logistics. “While the former protocol officer provided me support, serving as a go-between with the law enforcement agents, the SARS official provided me with the necessary logistics, frustrating the efforts of security agencies and destroying evidence which could have led to my successful arrest and prosecution…”

Many Nigerians believe that some members of the police force and politicians are among those who either own or sponsor kidnapping gangs. This may explain why not much progress has been made in tackling the kidnapping rampage in Nigeria.
